Sowing the Seeds of a Healthy Food System in Baja Calfornia Sur
We create collaborative networks that connect local farmers with businesses and systems change investors seeking a transition to a regenerative food chain in the region. We understand the complexity of cultivating a healthy food system in the desert but if we can achieve it here then we will be an example to the world.
We create healthy spaces for dialogue that support networks and communities interested in the transition to an equitable, healthy, resilient, sustainable and regenerative food system.
We’ve built a network of XX food producers exploring Agroecology and sustainable farming. We’re matching them to restaurants, hotels and investor supporting the transition.

Collaborating with Farmers for a Healthier Food System
By investing in Agroecology and the local economy, we do more than just promote Agroecological transitions we bolster the health of the fragile ecosystems that sustain all life in the region. Healthier, locally produced food not only enhances our physical well-being it puts money into the pockets of the hard-working farmers of the region. Buying local produce is not just a good choice—it's also good business.
We work with systems change investors that understand the importance of healthy food to support the transition towards Agroecology. A healthy food system is good for ecosystems, good for our health and good business.
We seek a systemic understanding of food security that recognizes the complexity and interdependence of all elements, actors and regions in the local and broader food system. We have more chance of success if we all collaborate.
Instead of exporting much-needed water in agricultural exports, if we cultivate a healthy food system in the challenging setting of Baja California Sur perhaps we can export something far more valuable to the rest of the world.

How We’re Going to Achieve it
Our priority is to strengthen mitigation, adaptation and collective learning capacities in the face of the challenges of climate change, with the aim of guaranteeing food security for the most vulnerable communities in BCS.
We work closely with urban communities, agricultural producers, companies, and civil and governmental organizations to form networks for prevention and organized response to climatic phenomena.
We approach this challenge, using collaborative leadership skills and co-design of strategies.
We also encourage local capacity building, such as community organizing, damage assessment, first aid, and fire mitigation. The State Plan for Response to Food Emergencies (PEREA), one of our outstanding projects, is implemented in coordination with our allies in the five municipalities of BCS.
Its objective is to facilitate access to nutritious and sufficient food in emergency situations, such as the damage caused by hurricanes Olaf (2021) and Kay (2022). Help us make BCS a stronger and fairer state!
